The Western Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies’ Mule Deer Working Group and the Oregon Chapter of The Wildlife Society will host a migration analysis workshop led by the Wyoming Migration Initiative, who have developed new approaches to apply migration research to real-world corridor management and conservation. The workshop is intended for state and federal wildlife practitioners who seek to better understand and identify the spatial and temporal characteristics of wildlife movement to improve management and policy affecting wildlife.

The half-day session will be an overview of current migration research, current state of science, how folks are identifying migration routes, identifying stop overs, identifying how they are being used on the ground to manage habitat and how the migration corridors are being incorporated into policy as well. The audience for the half day session are interested state, federal or NGO biologists or decision makers interested in identifying migration corridors. There will be a separate concurrent full day workshop that is open by invitation only to state game department biologists from Oregon, California, Nevada and Washington to analyze existing telemetry data during the working afternoon session.  Limited spots are available for the half day session.  Questions: Josh Chapman, Oregon Chapter of The Wildlife Society, 541-517-8898 or joshuachapman@fs.fed.us
